ABSTRACT.
We describe a 92-year-old male patient with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who had sudden onset of thrombocytopenia and developed acute lupus pneumonitis (ALP). Although steroid pulse therapy was effective for ALP, he developed complicated bacterial pulmonary
disease. This patient is the oldest ever reported to have contracted SLE. (J Rheumatol 2000;27:234–7)
